Jupiter Acquires Moonshot, Solana’s third-largest DeFi protocol, has acquired a majority stake in Moonshot, although the financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Jupiter (JUP), a decentralized exchange (DEX) aggregator based on Solana, revealed that it has acquired a majority share in Moonshot, an app that lets users purchase memecoins via Apple Pay.

On January 25, Meow, the pseudonymous founder of Jupiter, shared the news on X:

Moonshot’s popularity soared, especially after Donald Trump’s Official Trump ($TRUMP) memecoin launched on January 18.

On January 1, the Moonshot app ranked 309th in the finance category of the U.S. App Store. However, just one day after the launch of the TRUMP memecoin, Moonshot shot to the top.

During the debut of the TRUMP memecoin, Moonshot saw nearly $400 million in trading volume. By January 20, the app had reached 1 million daily active users. Launched in July 2024, Moonshot is a self-custodial app supported by TurnkeyHQ.

Jupiter Acquires SonarWatch

Jupiter also announced its acquisition of SonarWatch, a portfolio-tracking tool that will integrate with the Jupiter platform.

As part of the deal, SonarWatch will stop operating as a standalone platform and transfer its features and innovations to Jupiter’s portfolio tracker website. The native token of SonarWatch, SONAR, will be discontinued. Holders can exchange their tokens for Jupiter’s native token, JUP.

On January 25, Jupiter introduced a series of updates to its platform, including the launch of “Ultra Mode,” which automates key features such as real-time slippage estimation, dynamic priority fees, and optimized transaction handling. The platform will also soon launch a new security feature called Jupiter Shield.

Jupiter has upgraded its Manual Mode with Routing and Broadcast options, giving users more control over their trades. New features like limit orders and one click trading have been added in the perpetual section.

Jupiter announced these updates are now available in beta.

In light of these announcements, JUP has surged by 10% over the past 24 hours, with a trading price of $0.93. Jupiter Acquires Moonshot and other strategic moves have contributed to this price increase.
